About Devon O’Brien
With a B.A. in Semiotics from Brown University, I graduated with honors in 2006 from the Masters in Professional Writing program at the University of Southern California, a multi-genre course, where I won awards for fiction, screenwriting and playwriting. My plays have been produced in Los Angeles and London; and my columns and articles have appeared in The Los Angeles Times and Variety, among other publications.
Three of my essays have appeared in the top spot of creative non-fiction: the Up Front and Nostalgia columns in Vogue Magazine. One of these was selected to be in Nostalgia in Vogue, an anthology published this year by Rizzoli Press. Here I am in fine company: Margaret Atwood, Joan Didion, Patti Smith and other literary luminaries also have essays in the book.
In addition, I wrote a novella, Of Lice and Men, which was published serially in 32 installments at The Huffington Post. An independent producer hired me to write a screenplay, Three Girls Jumping. Stars like Anne Heche, Kate Walsh and Kate Burton had appearing in presentations or readings of my plays, Flight Plan, American Portraits, ANNA by Savannah, and An Occasion for Cake. I have just completed a memoir, The Happy Ones.
