    Waveya (Hangul: 웨이브야), also known as WAVEYA Dance Group, is an all-female dance cover group from South Korea. As of 2018 the group is a duo consisting of dance choreographer Ari (Jang Eun Young, born November 12, 1989), and her younger sister MiU (Jang You Sun, born January 9, 1991).

    They gained notoriety after creating their YouTube channel in 2011, and later uploading a dance cover of Gangnam style which went viral. The two sisters has since then gone on to produce more adult-oriented content.

    History[edit]

    Waveya was created by sisters Ari and MiU, who held auditions for and trained the dance team. The group started posting videos of their dances on a Korean portal site in 2006.[1] Waveya gained popularity after creating their YouTube channel in 2011, amassing over 3.5 million subscribers since the channel was made.[2] In their videos Waveya either perform dance covers of various K-Pop, American or Brazilian artists along with their own original choreography. Their style has varied greatly over the years - originally focusing on dance covers of K-pop songs, then broader genres in general, and since 2019 has mainly focused on twerking and ass-clapping.[3]

Run by Ari and MiU, Waveya caught the internet's attention by publishing the sexiest cover of "Gangnam Style" ever on YouTube, garnering over 146 million views.


    Turns out, they ain't no one-hit wonder either. Ever since their "Gangnam Style" cover, they've been hitting the million mark video after video. Because not only do these girls showcase their obvious dancing talent but also they make the choreography sexy, and more importantly, fun.
